We are a community based program. Volunteers are the mainstay of our program. We are all volunteers including our equine instructors.
Sidewalkers: Work to insure stability and balance in the rider. The sidewalker maintains a position by the rider's knee. Sidewalkers reinforce and assist, and work with the participants to help focus their attention on the instructor.
Leads: One of the most challenging volunteer duties. The leader's first responsibility is the horse, but you must also be aware of the rider, the instructor, and any potential hazards in or around the arena. It's your opportunity to talk to horses.
Groomers: Grooming and caring for our equine therapists is a big part of our program. There may be times when participants do not ride but learn to communicate with the horse while gaining each others respect.
Administrative duties: Keeping our records straight. Help promoting our program.
