Our program has three PATH Int'l certified riding instructors to work with our participants. Each instructor brings a different set of skills that enhances our lessons.
The uniqueness in this program is the use of horses. The horses give our participants a sense of self confidence when they lead a horse around the arena or when they sit up tall astride these magnificent animals. Not all horses qualify to be part of the program. The horse must be able to realize the rider's or walker's emotional and physical state. The horse needs to be calm and patient when the participant is learning the art of grooming or walking them around the arena.
Horses are “in the moment” and have the extraordinary ability to use their innate intuition and empathetic behavior to mirror whatever might be projected by the people around them. This has been hugely helpful from an instructional standpoint for nonverbal children or at risk youth who have had very poor communication and trust issues with people. Many of those individuals use nonverbal ways of protecting themselves from others around them.
