VOLUNTEER
The October, 2017 Issue of Real Estate Magazine featured The Circle of Horses in an article, "Horse Sense."
The magic is there like a treatment on a spa menu. We can all benefit from the non-judgmental presence of a horse in a meadow."
—Barbara Auerbach, Executive Director, The Circle of Horses

As a community based program, volunteers are the mainstay of our program, all of us, including our equine instructors.

NEEDED:

Sidewalkers: Work to ensure the stability and balance of the rider. They maintain a position by the rider's knee, then reinforce and assist the participant in focusing their attention on the instructor.

Leads: As one of the most challenging duties, the leader's first responsibility is the horse, but must be equally aware of the rider, the instructor, and potential hazards in or near the arena. It's the lead's opportunity to talk to the horses.

Groomers: Caring for our equine therapists is a big part of our program. There may be many times when participants do not ride, but learn to communicate with the horse while each gains the other's respect.

Administration: Duties include keeping the records straight and helping to promote the program.
